Mwape Bonard, Ph.D. : Board Chairman


Bonard Mwape is a professor of public sector management. He is the trapca Board Chairman and the Director General of the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). His specific areas of management development expertise include policy and public sector management, human resources management and leadership skills development. Mr. Mwape holds a Ph. D from Pittsburgh, USA and a Master degree from London, UK.

Beatrice Chaytor

Beatrice Dove-Edwin is formerly Director of the Policy, Planning and Research Division in Sierra Leone's Ministry of Trade. She qualified as a Barrister in the UK in 1988. From 1995 to 2003, she progressed from Staff Lawyer to Programme Director at the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD), providing legal advice and assistance to inter-governmental agencies, government departments and international NGOs. Her areas of expertise include international trade law, international environmental law and policy, natural resource management, maritime law and shipping. She has written/contributed to books and articles on international trade/international environmental law issues.

Kaukab Rashid S.

Rashid S. Kaukab is currently Deputy Director and Research Coordinator, CUTS Geneva Resource Centre, Geneva, Switzerland.  His long career includes working for the government of Pakistan as a field administrator, in the ministry of finance, and as Counsellor on trade and economic issues in Pakistan Mission to the UN/WTO in Geneva. He joined the Geneva-based South Centre, an intergovernmental organization of developing countries, in March 1998 where he worked as Coordinator of South Centre Work Programme on Trade and Development, as Head, Strategic Policy and Planning, and as Acting Head, Programme and Research Coordination. He led the South Centre delegation to the Geneva, Seattle, Doha and Cancun Ministerial Conferences of the WTO and the XI Ministerial Conference of UNCTAD. He has also worked for UNCTAD as a Senior Consultant. Rashid S. Kaukab graduated from GC Lahore in Economics and English Literature and has Masters Degrees in Economics (Karachi University) and Business Administration (Yale University). Trade and development is the broad area of his interest and he has contributed a number of articles/papers on issues related to trade and development.  He has lectured at several research and academic institutions including Grenoble University, France, CASIN, Geneva, and GC University, Lahore, Pakistan.  Current focus of his work as part of CUTS research team is on Africa, particularly the political economy of trade, and climate change and trade in Eastern and Southern Africa.

Mitiambo Peter M.:Designation:Chief Consultant

Peter Mitiambo is the ESAMI Principal Consultant. He holds an MBA in finance from Bradford University and is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He has been with ESAMI for over 16 years and has technical competence in the design, development and delivery of management development training programs, financial planning and budget development and management of training programs, strategic management and management consultancy.

H.E. Mwencha Erastus J.O.

Erastus J.O. Mwencha is the current Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission and former Secretary-General of the common market

Mwila,Chungu PhD.

Chungu Mwila is Director, Investment Promotion and Private Sector Development, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Prior to his current position, he held different senior positions in the SADC Secretariat where he oversaw the development of sectoral policies. He holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Bradford, a Master of Development Studies from Institute of Development Studies, Hague and a BA from University of Zambia.

Kiuluku Peter Kalunda : Designation: Executive Director (ex-officio member)

Peter Kiuluku has been an international management consultant with specialist skills in corporate strategy and marketing. He previously managed the Global Leadership and Management Sustainability Programme and was Manager for Marketing and Business Development at ESAMI. He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from ESAMI and he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in business administration with Maastricht School of Management.

Hansson Göte, Ph.D. : Designation: Professor of International Economics, Academic Director (ex- officio member)

Göte Hansson is a Professor of International Economics at Lund University. He was the Deputy Dean and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences from 1990 -2003. He holds a doctorate in economics from Lund University and has published widely on the economics of trade and development, especially in African contexts.
